Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner
PTAC units, as they’re called, are another great option. These units are installed permanently in your wall, and they provide both heating AND cooling! These air conditioners are ideal for rooms in your house that aren’t connected to your central heating and air system. They are a bit more expensive than window units, and they require you to open up a hole in your wall. But with all the benefits they provide, the investment is more than worth it.
Portable Air Conditioner
The biggest upside portable AC units have to offer is that you can move them between rooms. Most of them also include a window venting hose for the exhaust they emit, just like the vents on a clothes dryer. Those that don’t require you to empty their reservoirs to prevent moisture build-up. Depending on the model, they can be less efficient than a window unit.
