Which Refrigerator Style is Best for You?

Here at Happys Appliances Outlet, our refrigerators come in MANY different colors, sizes, and layout styles. Because of this, we recognize that it may be difficult to determine which style of refrigerator is best for your kitchen. Aside from the aesthetic factor, the style of refrigerator you select can have a big impact on your kitchen workflow, walkways etc. This is why we’ve put together this guide to help steer you towards the refrigerator that fits your kitchen the best!

Top-Mount

Top-Mount refrigerators are the most common model of fridge that you will come across. They have a freezer on the top with the refrigerator portion on the bottom. These fridges tend to work best for kitchens and families that are smaller in size. Of all the different refrigerator styles, these are usually the most economical option.

Bottom-Freezer

Bottom-Freezer refrigerators are basically just like top-mount fridges but with the freezer and refrigerator compartments flipped upside down. One additional key difference is that they usually have larger capacities and more shelving options than top-mount fridges. These are also nice because they place your refrigerated items at eye-level. Because of these added benefits, bottom-freezer fridges typically cost more than their top-freezer alternatives.

Side by Side

Side-by-Side is another style of refrigerator that is very popular. These fridges are split down the middle, with the freezer typically on the left side and the refrigerator portion on the right. Unlike the previous models we’ve already touched on, most side-by-side fridges have a water/ice dispenser! This style of fridge offers less refrigerated capacity than top/bottom mount refrigerators, but much more freezer space. This style is another great fit for smaller kitchens because of the shorter door swing and counter-depth that most of them possess.

French Door

French Door refrigerators are typically the priciest of the four styles we’ve covered, but for good reason. These fridges have a total of three (or four) doors, with split doors up top for the refrigerator and the freezer drawer on the bottom. These fridges have the largest refrigerator capacity of all the models we’ve discussed. These refrigerators are super convenient for large and unusual items such as food trays. We can’t forget to mention how beautiful and sleek these fridges look. If you have a large family and/or want to WOW your dinner guests with a fancy kitchen layout, this is probably the refrigerator for you!
