When Should I Replace My Pillow?

12.30.22

Pillows are your head’s favorite friend.

Most experts and our specialized salespeople agree that a pillow should be replaced every 1 to 2 years. This practice ensures that your pillow gives you the right support it should be giving, along with a clean and allergen-free experience.

But how can you tell if it's time for your pillow to go? Usually, if you’re waking up with a sore neck, or at night you’re tossing and turning and cursing the nearest person (or animal) near you, it's a sure sign that it might be time to replace that fluffy rectangle of awesomeness. If you start to notice a lump or some sag in the pillow, it might be a telltale sign to toss it out the window and hit up your favorite store that makes you “Happy!”. It’s better to replace the mattress than stick with something that can cause repeated soreness or even have the ability to contribute to skin breakouts. People drool, sweat, and secrete oil when they sleep, and your pillow soaks all that up. Think about the build up that can happen after a year or even two years!

With that being said, if you’re waking up with headaches, neck pain, or unable to sleep, or you’ve kept your trusty sidekick around for multiple years, it might be time to get that new pillow.
