So What’s Actually in a Vegan’s Fridge?

I’m sure more than one person who doesn’t follow the lifestyle has wondered this more than once. Veganism is a strict lifestyle to follow that doesn’t allow the consuming or use of animal products. That means no meat, no wool sweaters, no pudding. At least that’s what most people think. In actuality, vegans eat the sames food that you or I do, only made with ingredients tailored specifically for them!
Allow me to introduce you to some of the essentials that reside in a vegan’s fridge. Just maybe with this info, you’ll go out to a place like Happys Appliances and buy yourself a fridge to store some of your own vegan foods in!

1. Leafy Greens

This is one of the basic necessities that, as a vegan, you need to have. You can’t have meat, standard supplements, or milk, the essential vitamins and nutrients you get have to be replaced somehow. Leafy, greens are the perfect way to get what you need while maintaining your way of life! For example, broccoli is a great replacement for milk; the calcium you absorb from broccoli is a good 30% higher than milk. Other greens have a great combination of folic acid–good for skin– and magnesium–essential for organ health.
Honestly, not just vegans should have leafy greens in their fridge, everyone should have greens!

2. Colorful fruit and veggies

Now, let’s be honest, you could probably live without consuming any fresh fruits or veggies. You’ll probably feel terrible, but you could theoretically survive. But who would want to? Colorful fruits and veggies supply just as many vital nutrients as the leafy greens! Some contain phytonutrients that assist in bolstering your immune system making sickness less frequent. And one less cold is so worth it. They also can aid in reducing the effects of aging and lowering blood sugar levels!

3. Vegan Cheese

Now if you’re like me, you absolutely love cheese including foods with cheese on them. Most people don’t know that vegans have their own dairy-free version of a great snack and ingredient. A lot of the time when people find out about the vegan cheese, they have these horrible flashbacks to when it used to be as edible as a crayon. No fear these days! We’ve come a long, long way and these cheeses are tasty! And great for your mom’s special lasagna recipe.

4. Condiments

Condiments are like the life blood of every meal ever! I know I can’t go without mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise. Vegans don’t either! There’s a vegan version of whatever you can think of. Vegan mayo, check. Hellmann’s makes it. Vegan mustard, barbecue sauce, syrup, salad dressing? Check! Spices and condiments are definitely included in this life style, who wants to eat super bland food anyway?

5. Meeeeeat

Vegan meat has come a loooong way. It used to be nearly impossible for the imitation to reflect the real deal’s flavor and texture. Nowadays though…if you didn’t know beforehand, I bet you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Brands like Beyond Meat and MorningStar offer some of the most diverse “meat” options. Chicken, pork, steak, hamburger meat, they have it all. And it’s super tasty too! Especially in grandma’s chili recipe. All of the “meats” are made from plant based protein so you’re still getting what your body needs while also helping reduce the health complications that result from eating actual meats, especially red meats.

Conclusion

A vegan’s fridge is just as diverse as someone who still consumes animal products. There’s tons of recipes and ways to prepare the delicious food lurking in their fridges. The only difference though, is that they’re definitely gonna want a great fridge like one from Happys Appliances, to keep all those yummy fruits and veggies fresh!
