Self-Cleaning Ovens

If there’s one task that is universally dreaded by most people, it’s cleaning. Oven ranges can become quite messy over time, and they’re not a lot of fun to clean by hand. Luckily, many of the ranges we sell here at Happys Appliances Outlet are Self-Cleaning! Let’s take a closer look at how this process works and see if a self-cleaning oven is right for you.

How Do They Work?

The self-clean feature was invented by GE in 1963. Simply put, it heats the residue left inside the oven until it becomes carbonized and turns into ash. The smooth enamel coating on the inside of most ovens makes it easy to scoop up the residue and ashes after its done cleaning. This process typically takes between 2 to 4 hours to complete.

Benefits

The most obvious benefit of self-cleaning ovens is all the time and effort you will save by not having to get down on your knees and scrubbing. It also keeps you from using toxic chemicals found in cleaning supplies to clean your oven. It also hits all the tough to reach spots that you most likely cannot reach on your own.
