Microwave Buying Guide

Purchasing a microwave oven might seem like a simple or even careless process, but there are a lot of considerations to take into account. Before picking one out, you’ll need to consider a number of factors such as price, size, capacity, and your countertop or cabinet space. Because of this, we’ve put together this guide outlining all of our different microwave styles to help you find the perfect microwave for your home when you shop at Happys Appliances Outlet!

Countertop

Countertop microwave ovens are the most commonly found type of microwave. The reasoning behind this is that they are significantly cheaper and easier to install than over-the-range or built-in microwaves. Perhaps the only minor drawbacks of countertop units are that they take up kitchen counter space and that they typically have slightly less capacity than over-the-range microwaves.

Over-the-Range

Over-the-Range microwaves are exactly what the name sounds like, you install them into your cabinet space. These units are vented on the outside and in most cases you’ll need an electrician to install it. You may also need a carpenter to open up space between your cabinets if you don’t already have it. Over-the-Range microwaves are pretty comparable in price to countertop units, and they’ll provide you with additional counter space as well.

Built-In Microwave

These microwaves are designed to be built into a wall or your cabinetry. These are a great option for people with minimal or no cabinet space. You can even install them into a drawer that glides in and out! These are usually more expensive than the other styles, but if you want your entire kitchen to have a fancy, streamlined aesthetic, you’ll probably be willing to spend a little extra.
