Do you prefer gas or electric ranges?

Another interesting question, one that really differs from region to region. I’ve noticed that in the South people really prefer electric ranges. In the North, people prefer having gas ranges. Apparently this discrepancy is because gas is typically cheaper than electric. Places like Happys Appliances Outlet sells both of these types of ranges for discounted prices. With that being said, let me give you guys a bit of info on some gas and electric ranges so you can decide for yourself!

Frigidaire Freestanding Gas Range

So our first one that we’ll look at is a 5.6 cu. ft. capacity gas range from the Frigidaire professional line. This stove is 30” wide and 47” tall and is smudge resistant stainless steel. A great feature to have if you have small children, or if you just prefer a clean look! It boasts five burners with a matte black cast iron finish, great for those who are looking for something that can stand the test of time and still look nice. The oven on this stove is also self cleaning, so no need to really worry about scrubbing out all the built on gunk.

The connection for the gas hook up is located on the lower rear back of the range. All in all, this range is really nice and has a great silhouette that you can place as a slide in or just leave free standing in the kitchen!

Samsung Electric Flex Duo Range

So the next one is a 30” wide Samsung induction glass top range. This one is the cheapest one, and comes in the regular stainless steel or smudge resistant black stainless steel. With 5 burners, each a different size, it offers quite a few options for cooking spaces. It’s a standard 5.9 cu. ft. of usable space, with a soft close oven door to make your hectic cooking quieter. And just like the Frigidaire above, it’s self-cleaning so no more scrubbing and painful backs! Unlike the Frigidaire though, this one offers a 20 minute steam cleaning option too! Speaking of the oven, this one has the capacity to cook a large roast, multiple dishes, or racks of sweets all at once!

Just like the Frigidaire, this one is freestanding and can be a part of the counter space in your kitchen or placed to the side!

Slide-in Electric Frigidaire Range

The last range on our list is another electric one. It’s a standard 30” wide range with a 4.6 cu. ft. oven capacity. Unlike our previous two ranges, this one has four 6” and 8” electric coils on the stove top. So this one has a little less cooking space and flexibility. Like the previous two ranges, this one also has the self-cleaning oven capabilities, with an option to delay the cleaning or set the length of time you’d like for it to self clean. The oven has two racks that allow you to cook multiple things at once.

This one is comes in the standard stainless steel and is a slide-in range rather than a freestanding model. So all-in-all this one is a model that has the most limitations, but it’s still a great stove to have if you prefer electric!

Conclusions

I’m still a huge fan of electric ranges, but I can see the appeal of gas models. A cheaper electric bill is great motivation to go gas. That extra money can go a long way if you’re in a pinch! Getting either a gas or electric range from a scratch and dent store like is a huge money and time saver as well!
Definitely an interesting difference, one that I hadn’t even realized was a thing. Personally, I prefer electric ranges; they’re all my grandma used when I was growing up!
