Choosing Between a Top and Front Load Washer

Ever since front-load washers were reintroduced into the marketplace in the late 90s, consumers have struggled with choosing between those and traditional top-load washing machines. Here at Happys Appliances Outlet, we run into this customer dilemma all the time. In this blog we’ll discuss the key differences between top-load and front-load washers, and hopefully help you determine which style is best for you.

Convenience

As far as ease of use goes, top-loaders seem to be the consensus pick because you don’t have to bend down to load and remove clothes. If you prefer the look of front-loaders but don’t like crouching down, we recommend purchasing a washer/dryer pedestal to lift it up a little bit higher.

Efficiency

Front-load washers tend to be gentler on your clothes than top-load washers, especially if you’re over-filling your top-loader. Top-load washers also tend to have a difficult time cleaning large items such as comforters, as they don’t get completely immersed by the water inside the machine. If efficiency is high on your list, you may want to choose a front-load washer.

Speed

If you’re always on the go and need your clothes washed quickly, you may want to purchase a top-load washer. If your washer has an agitator in it, it will clean your clothes even faster. However, top-loaders without an agitator (known as high efficiency washers) clean more efficiently, fit more clothing items and use less water.
